Are you an experienced thru-hiker, thru-biker, or trail equestrian who’d like to be part of making the xTexas Trail draft route the best it can be?
If so, we’d love to hear from you! We’re seeking 30 hardy, knowledgeable, self-supporting volunteers to join Charlie Gandy on Monday, March 10th to group ground-proof the first 100 miles of the xTexas Trail Project’s draft route. The trail begins at Quicksand Creek near Kirbyville on the Louisiana border. We’ll end in Livingston.
No, you don’t have to do the full 100 miles - however - you must have the skills and the stamina to bring all of your own food, water, and camping supplies.
We’re looking for people with real-world experience surveying trails who can report back different perspectives (for hiking, biking, and horses) on how the draft route passes muster) including advising if there are better, more interesting, safer alternative routes.
This ground-proofing adventure will help us make decisions on the first 100 miles of the xTexas Trail for the first season next fall.
Step 1) Fill out the application below!
Step 2) Charlie Gandy will get in touch with you for a brief interview to learn more about your skills and talents.
